Film work

Tom Van Dyke’s creative work has long moved between writing, visual art and film. Most recently, Robert Duvall called Tom personally to say, "I want to be involved with a film I believe will become a Christmas Classic." I asked him for a line of praise, Duvall offered: "A Wonderful Book." Then I said, "Robert, your 93 years old, he said, I know, I know... but send me three copies and if I don't make the film, I know people who will.

Given Duvall's role in defining the modern literary Western on screen through Lonesome Dove, his personal interest in bringing A Cowboy Christmas An American Tale to to the silver screen gives this project a natural, credible path to that same audience.
